この展覧会ではシンガポールのアンダーグラウンド・カルチャーシーンの一端をご紹介いたします。

Singapore Art Museumの正面に設置され、同美術館のコレクションにも加わった溶けているスーパーヒーローは、身近なモチーフをサンプリングしながら変幻自在な手法で知られる作家Mojoko、セレブやアニメなどをモチーフに皮肉たっぷりな作品で知られるイラストレーターのEric Foenanderの共作です。

今回の展示では彼らの溶けるスーパーヒーロー・シリーズを始め、シンガポールの伝統柄をモチーフとしたプラナカン・タイル、リミテッド・プリントやグラフィックワークを中心に、物事の固定観念を揺すぶりながらもユーモアとアイロニー溢れる作品を紹介いたします。

同時にMOJOKOが主催するアート・マガジン「KULT」も全巻ご覧いただけま す。

We are proud to announce our new exhibition that will introduce one of the best out of the art & culture scene in Singapore.

Known for their 5meter high melting ‘super hero’ (photo above) which is situated in front of the Singapore Art Museum, Mojoko and Eric Foenander have will create an exhibition full of humor, irony and paradoxes.

In their upcoming show in Tokyo we will be showing their melting super hero series, limited edition prints, works with Peranakan Tile motifs and many others. graphic and print works, their melting super hero and tile works (limited edition pieces), all with a twist and sense of distinct humor. Also we will be showing an art-freepaper “KULT” which Mojoko has been publishing.

Mojoko and Eric Foenander have established a distinct style which we also feel very Singaporean. Very different from Japan and other Asian countries, their works represent the true blend of cultural and technological aspects of the Western and Eastern countries, through a cynical but humorous expression.

この度、CLEAR EDITION & GALLERYでは名古屋を拠点に活動している作家、尾関幹人の個展を開催いたします。
尾関は切り絵の技法で、一枚の紙から下絵も書かず、即興的にイメージを紡ぎだします。その手先から生み出される有機的なイメージは圧倒的な存在感を持ちます。
作家自身が「身体」に対する考え方 を改めたここ一年を中心に生み出された新シリーズを含めた展覧会になります。

CLEAR EDITION & GALLERY proudly presents solo show by Mikito Ozeki, currently living an working in Nagoya Japan.
Ozeki is known for his paper cutting technique. With no draft, he improvisationally give birth to his one and only, distinct organic forms. For the past year, due to the post-quake situations Japan is in, Ozeki has been re-thinking about his physical characteristics and about his “body”. Through this exhibition we will be show casing works based on the theme “body”.

1967年にヒットしたこの曲はその詩の内容と解釈に比例するかのようにとても不安定な社会情勢を抱えたイギリスで生まれ、1組の男女を中心に目まぐるしく物語が展開し、様々な風景へと私たちを連れて行ってくれます。

同様に小町の視点も旅をし続け、多彩な物語を秘めています。
ペインティング、シルクスクリーン、ファニチャーからコラージュまで幅広い表現方法を持つ小町ではありますが、普段からカメラを片手に写真を撮っていることはあまり知られていません。作品の素材として、または単に気になったり面白いと思った日常風景など、小町がここに見せる写真を撮った動機は様々です。それは彼にとってとてもパーソナルな行為であり、対外的に「作られた」物ではありません。そしてそれぞれに私的な物語が含まれており、意味があり、彼の視点の記録でもあります。

ごくありふれたの線路沿いの景色、猥雑だがどこか懐かしい街角、寂れた公園、工事現場など、それは見慣れた風景でもあり、どこか幻想的で時には空虚感すら漂っている様に感じます。小町自身が体感し、特別な何かを感じ取った気配をこの度一冊の本として発表し、合わせて個展を開催いたします。この機会に是非小町の制作のベースともなる視点と物語を感じてください。

合わせて同タイトルの写真集を出版させて頂きました。

This smash hit from 1976 reflects the unstable social backgrounds which it was born in, and its poetic but puzzling lyrics still create a broad array of interpretations. Centered on a couple, the dramatically changing story through this song takes us on a journey to a series of peculiar sceneries.

Similar to this song, what Komachi sees through his eyes is also full of stories.
Komachi is well known for his broad range of works from paintings, silk screens, to furnitures and collages, but not many know that he always has a camera with him. What he shoots with his camera become the sources and the inspiration for his art works, or simply an everyday scene which he felt interested in. Photography for Komachi is something very personal and not intentionally made to show. Each photo has its own personal tale, and is a documentary of what he saw in various cities around the world.

A stereotypical scene along the railroads, a squalid but nostalgic neighborhood, a deserted park, and construction sites. These scenes sometime feel unreal and even feel empty. Along with his first photo exhibition at CLEAR EDITION & GALLERY, we are proud to announce the publication of a book full of atmospheres which Komachi experienced and felt special about.

ナイジェル・スコット / Nigel Scott

ジャマイカ、キングストン生まれのナイジェル・スコットは、その独自の視点と感覚でコンテンポラリー・フォト グラフィーの最前線に立っています。彼は80年代中頃にカナダのトロントに拠点を移し、写真家としてのキャリア をスタートさせます。1987年にトロントを離れて以来、スコットはパリ、東京やニューヨークなど生活と活動拠点 を転々としながら各地で評価を得てきました。ルーツがジャマイカだということもあり、同郷の若かりしボブ・マ ーリーとウェイラーズの北アメリカのツアーに帯同し、記録していた時期もあります。
サーフィンを体験して以来、スコットは海洋環境にその関心を移します。彼が描写するイメージは太陽と水などの 自然界の要素を写し出し、自然との繋がりを想起させます。スコットの表現は介入主義や写真におけるデジタルト レンドとは一線を画します。彼のサイアノタイプはネガ、ライトボックスもしくは屋外で、自らの手でコーティン グされた紙や金、白い絹布に施され、植物やファウンドオブジェクトの表情を太陽の力で引き出します。1996年に スコットはニューヨークに移住し、現在も制作拠点としています。
